Mr. Mohammad Rafiq studied agriculture with post graduate qualifications in forestry. He specializes in community forestry, sustainable economic development for poverty alleviation, environmental impact assessment, and organizational change and development.

He has extensive experience of managing forests in varied ecologies, strategic planning for environment, resolving resourced based conflicts, engaging private sector for nature conservation and livelihoods’ improvement, and monitoring and evaluation.

Over his almost 30 year career, Rafiq has worked for the Pakistani Government, led various programs and initiatives of IUCN including its Pakistan Country Office, West Asia Central Asia and North Africa Regional Operations, and Global Business and Biodiversity Programme.

He serviced as Senior Vice President for Rainforest Alliance and advised the strategic plans and organizational development of Zeitz Foundation Germany, The Long Run, UK, and Nature, Ecology, People and Conservation (NEPCon), Denmark. He continues these projects working for himself at Sustainable Futures Worldwide, a partner of Altus Impact where he serves as an advisor.
