Client: United Nations System of Environmental Economic Accounting | Throughout 2020
Challenge
The UN System of Environmental Economic Accounting Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA EA) programme was seeking a project partner to assist them in creating project outputs from a major initiative: the Natural Capital Accounting and Valuation of Ecosystem Services (NCAVES) project
The NCAVES project was a five year project launched in 2017 with an aim to advance both the knowledge agenda and the development of policy-applications of environmental-economic accounting, and in particular for ecosystem accounting. The project initiated pilot testing SEEA Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA EA) in five participating partner countries, namely Brazil, China, India, Mexico and South Africa.
Outputs were required to report on each country's activities during the project and to, more broadly, begin to communicate the different approaches to using the SEEA EA to help national priorities.
Impact
The publications and creative outputs generated by Altus Impact through the project were all published on the SEEA website and have contributed towards the ongoing mainstreaming of natural capital accounting around the world.
